Some books stay on my TBR list for years. I add virtually every book that seems remotely interesting, so there are literally hundreds of books on that list. Reading book blogs and online reviews makes it worse, because there are constantly more books that appeal to me! That’s what happened with Verity.
I bought Verity after reading about it in a blog review. Normally I avoid ebooks because print’s my favorite, but it’s only available digitally, so had to suck it up. If you have Kindle Unlimited, it’s free (I don’t, because of the ebook thing.) It ended up being a three hour read because it grabs hold and won’t let go!
Graphic bedroom scenes are par for the course with Colleen Hoover books. I’m not a fan of all that racy stuff in stories, but Hoover’s books are always so good that it’s worth the read. She creates unusual plot lines, like in Hopeless, that just work. I really liked the way she made this a story-within-a-story. The “present” scenes helped to balance the darkest elements of the past situations. I skip over the detailed adult moments just for the sake of getting through the plot.
In Verity, so much shock happens. When it was over, I sat back and allowed myself to be stunned for a few minutes. It’s still going through my mind. Hoover really nailed the twists in this one! It’s one that I’ll probably re-read at some point just to enjoy it one more time.
