I just can’t help but sing that song in my head when I look at the cover of this book; that’s probably what makes it the perfect beach read!
Susan May Warren is one of those chameleon writers that I love. She can go from a mysterious drama to a sweet romance and not skip a beat. In the new Christiansen family novel, When I Fall in Love , she takes the romance spin a bit deeper by throwing a bit of tragedy into the mix. Although I typically prefer to read all the books in a series, When I Fall In Love could really be a standalone novel. It’s helpful to know the background story but isn’t completely necessary for the enjoyment of the plot. This book hit home with me because of some serious issues presented in the relationships. I don’t want to give a spoiler, so I won’t explain further, but it’s a bit of a heavier read for a beach read. Now don’t get me wrong! You can tell from the title and cover that this book is totally romantic. When sitting down with a good book, I need a bit of substance; When I Fall In Love provides that. There are so many lighthearted and sweet moments that you’ll find yourself just smiling as you read. I was a bit torn between the reality of the situations and the improbable conclusions. The side characters are just as interesting as the main characters in this novel. That’s a bonus since it makes me look forward to future stories to be published.
