What does your favorite TV show say about you? #boostyourblog

Downton Abbey….I just can’t get enough! I love everything about it. The history, the romance, the stifled drama.  It’s just delicious TV to me.   My husband and I love to watch period dramas like this one, but we have a variety of genres sitting in our queue.   We have a limited number of shows that we watch on regular TV, mostly because we just don’t get to watch TV at the same time every day.  On “regular” TV, we like reality shows like Gold Rush, American Pickers, Storage Wars, and Pawn Stars.  It’s amazing how much one can learn by watching shows like these!  I’ve really picked up a lot of the gold-mining vernacular.

Love TV?  Check out this quiz to find out — What Does Your Favorite TV Show Say About You?

Many of my favorite shows have already ended, but I still love to watch them.  You see, for series shows I like to wait until the season is over and watch the whole series at once. It drives me crazy to wait a week to see what happens with a storyline.  With our busy schedules, we don’t always get to watch the show on the night it comes on, and that’s just torture!   So most of the time I’m willing to wait and watch it when it’s released on DVD or on Netflix.  I suppose I should really invest in a DVR or TIVO but we just haven’t taken that plunge yet.  Yes, I live in the Stone Age!   We don’t watch many cable shows because of the bad language.  I much prefer to watch shows during which my kids can walk into the room and I don’t have to worry about them hearing or seeing something that is not appropriate for their age.   Although there might be a bit of language or some racy scenes in these favorites of mine, they are usually pretty clean.     So, now for the biggie.   The show that I wish never ended is probably ….. drumroll please!

Seinfeld — This is a classic for us. We watch Seinfeld reruns all the time, over and over, and love it every single time. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

But there are so many other good ones!   Among my favorite series shows that have ended are:

Alias— this show about government conspiracies is awesome!  I love seeing how Jennifer Garner can just turn a situation in seconds.  You’ve gotta see it!

The Office — This show is so funny. I liked the earlier seasons best.  I know it’s still on, but it ended for me when Steve Carrell left.

Scrubs — This show is a hilarious version of ER. It has the slaphappy humor of a spoof while the romance just keeps things interesting.  This show might still be going, I don’t know!

Lost — I’ll admit that when I first saw this show I just wasn’t interested. After watching it a couple of times, though, it became a complete obsession. I still don’t know if I understand the ending.

The X-Files— If you are interested in the paranormal AT ALL you’ve gotta watch Lost. It’s the 90’s version of the Twilight Zone. This show had me completely hooked.

Friends — Ah, Friends. You just couldn’t be a 20-something in the 90’s and not love this show. I still get a flutter in my heart when I think of Ross kissing Rachel that first time.  I still can’t figure out who was watching Emma all those times that The Friends were sitting in the coffee shop together though.

Smallville— I don’t care a bit about superheroes, but I loved this show. It was cheesy in all the good ways. I only watched it through season 10 or so, though….it just got kind of old after that.

There are so many more shows that I’ve loved.  What about you — what’s your favorite show?  And if you took that quiz I linked above, I’d love to hear what your results said about you!

  2. We don’t watch a lot of tv these days. When we do watch, we watch Biggest Loser and Amazing Race. Other than that we watch the news, football, hockey or kid’s educational shows.
Don’t have time take the quiz now, but I am curious.
